How to open a .pub file on a Mac
Microsoft Publisher was only ever made for Windows, so a Mac cannot open .pub files on its own. Pages, Preview and Word for Mac cannot open them either.
1. Convert it in your browser
Upload the file on our home page. You get a PDF that opens in Preview, a PowerPoint file that opens in Keynote, PowerPoint or Canva, and a Word file. You see a free preview first.
Want it done for you? Upload your .pub files and get a PDF, an editable file for Canva, PowerPoint and Google Slides, and a Word file. Free preview before you pay.
Convert my files2. Free: LibreOffice for Mac
- Download LibreOffice from libreoffice.org and install it.
- Open LibreOffice and choose Open File, then pick the .pub file. It opens in LibreOffice Draw.
- Use File, Export as PDF to keep a copy.
Fonts that are not on your Mac are replaced with a plain font, so the layout can shift.
3. Ask someone with Windows
Anyone with an older bought copy of Publisher (2016, 2019 or 2021) can open the file and save it as PDF for you.
